Embarrassing - its a good job I can think on my feet
I have recently been on tour in Birmingham and traffic been somewhat kind to me I had arrived pretty early in fact before the allocated check in of 2pm.
I always try and chance my luck - well don't we all… I decided to see if there was a room available and made my way into reception with my 4 bags of luggage. The lady looked at me and my luggage - I think she thought I was here for a month!! Any way after taking my details and spending about 5 minutes checking the computer - it turned out the computer said no!!! The receptionist was very polite about it and asked if I would like to put my bags in luggage which I accepted and took a seat in the bar.
I kept asking if a room had yet become available but it hadn't so I waited patiently pondering the thought of what happens magically at 2pm and all the rooms suddenly become available.… I am yet to find an answer to the question...
Any way 2pm came and I went to check in only this time it was another receptionist - I handed over my tickets, retrieved my bags, which the receptionist kindly put on a luggage trolley and helped me to my room.
A day came and went and I was looking for my Venus 2000 which I pack into a small case on its own, I could not find it anywhere - checked the car it was not there. Then it dawned on me that I had left it in the baggage room and had no ticket for it.
I made my way down to reception and explained that I had not been given back all my bags the previous day despite handing over all my tickets. She accompanied me to the baggage room and asked if I could identify the bag, which I did straight away.
She asked me if I had any form of ID in bag or could I identify the contents as I had no ticket she needed to be sure the bag was mine...
Panic!!! Quick thinking as I am I said certainly - it is a model of a prototype for a cow milking machine using new technology.. Well you should have seen the look on her face - most people have clothes, shoes and toiletries in the suitcase I am waking around with what I am now claiming is a new cow milking machine… I told here there is black box which is a small scale model of a motor and various different attachments for the cows… Opening the case she looked and said yes this appears to be your case.. I took it and made my back to my room. I am not too sure what she would have made of the bottle of lubricant in there but could not care - I had my milking machine back safely and that was all I was bothered about. So now ready for doing some milking and I am not talking cows...
