World Rally Championship Wales 2014
For those of you who know me you know I love my cars and motor racing. I usually follow the F1 but this season I have just been way too busy. So as the season draws to a close I am very much looking forward to the 2014 season, who knows I may even make it to one of the GP’s. I am excited enough as it is that Mark Webber will be driving for Porche at Le Mans in 2014 and I have already secured my tickets for the third year running to get down to France in June.
So you can imagine my delight when I was taken to the WRC in Wales at the weekend. I was thrilled as I have never been to a rally even before. There I was expecting to be standing by the side of the track with the cars only a few feet away and been involved in all the thrill of the speed camera at the ready!!! I have to hand it to the organisers for their complete disorganisation after stopping at the first stage and not been able to park the car as the car park was full. We parked by the road and walked up the track and walked and walked and walked for about 3 miles, I could here the cars but could not see them and certainly could not photograph them!!! Eventually we came across a hut, now thirsty we stopped for a drink only to learn it was another 3 miles to walk!!! Turning back we walked back to the car, all was not lost as I got some pics of the Welsh Country Side.
We then drove to Chirk Castle and due to sitting in traffic for hours was late missing the start of the stage there. Then the race was stopped because there were people (mainly me) who had jumped a barrier to get closer to the track to take pictures. Yes guys I brought the rally to a halt and I did not even take my clothes off!!! Eventually the race was started again and I must admit I had a fantastic time and will look forward to going again to another rally, maybe one where I can get a bit closer to the action. In fact ideally I would like to get so close I am in the car – still a girl can dream!! Maybe if I wish hard enough and close my eyes and promise to be a good girl – like that will happen lol - it will come true and I will get to go in a rally car after all!!
